Stay tuned for more exciting announcements as the festival draws closer.
RISE rocks another show this time in France for the first time – Full House!
The boys at the “Club Mouche de la Haute Vallée de la Loire” did an amazing job of promoting this show in France. Especially Pierre Monatte who helped a lot on technical side of getting a HD screening with French subtitles together. Fly Fishers came from all over the country for the evening – total attendance was almost 300. The biggest show we have ever played in Europe !
Big shout out to everyone who helped promote this event especially the ‘Club Mouche de la Haute Vallée’ and the guys at Le Mouching and Gobages , they all did a great effort in ensuring it was a success. We are already planning more shows in France during 2011, stay tuned.
It is exciting for us to announce that we will be playing a RISE Film Festival in the Munich area. The show will be held in conjunction with the EWF event (Erlebniswelt Fliegenfischen) which is one of the most popular and respected fly fairs in Europe. RISE will be the official film event of the EWF in 2011 and in the long term.
The screening will take place on Saturday 9th April which is the halfway mark of the EWF event and should represent the peak in attendance. The films will be screened in HD at the Kleiner Saal which is situated inside the Fürstenfeld Exhibition Center. The festival will commence at 20.00H which should leave the perfect amount of time for people to get some dinner after the EWF and then make their way to the film show.
The first RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival show for 2011 was held on Thursday night in Reykjavik, Iceland. It was the first time that RISE has visited Iceland so we really didn’t know what to expect. Of course, having visited and filmed there for extensive periods of time, we knew that Icelanders are fanatical when it comes to fly fishing so we hoped that the film festival would something they would embrace.
We had our main guy in Iceland, Stjani Ben, as the promoter and host. He did an amazing job getting a write up in the newspaper and in the local fishing mags. By Tuesday, two days before the show all of the 200+ tickets were sold. The cinema was HD enabled so we were able to show the films in all their High-Def glory.
Here are a few snaps from the night.
A few early arrivals - once a viking always a viking!
We have added a couple more shows to the European Tour. We will be playing our first Polish show ever in Warsaw and we have added Oulu to our list of Finland shows. Tickets available now and selling fast already.
Due to the success of the RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival – European Tour in Nov 2010 we are coming back to Europe to play in more towns and cities across the continent – this time the tour will visit Iceland, France, Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Poland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Show details as follows
I got a nice surprise this morning when I checked my emails. The below clip was put together by Mark Wengler from Pool 32 Mag an on-line magazine that originates in Denmark.
Mark made the film clip about his rather interesting journey from Copenhagen, Denmark to Malmo, Sweden to see a show of RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival 2010. Normally this would be an easy trip of 50 km over the bridge that now contents the two countries. Except that on the night of the show a massive snow storm was pushing in from the North making the drive a little more tricky.
Anyway its a good bit of fun and check out Mark’s mag there are some stunning photos and interesting content.
With films from Australia, USA, NZ and Iceland we have a pretty diverse and exciting line up of films for the RISE 2010 European tour. Well it just got better! We welcome to the line up the guys from Jazz & Fly Fishing.
The exclusive 15-minute preview of Jazz & Fly Fishing Season One that we will show at the film festival is absolutely fantastic. Great story with funny, down-to-earth characters its the perfect compliment to the rest of the films. Should look fantastic on the big screen.
